Dave’s Supermarket
Completed: 2019
Dave’s Supermarket opened a new 55,000 square foot supermarket in the Midtown neighborhood as part of the Link59 project — an 11-acre campus located in the center of Cleveland’s Health-Tech Corridor, immediately adjacent to the University Hospital Rainbow Center for Women and Children. The new grocery store replaced Dave’s flagship location and provides access to healthy, fresh food to residents on the east side of Cleveland that were underserved. The family–owned Cleveland store also houses a pharmacy, bank and neighborhood gathering space. That space includes a teaching kitchen, which is used by University Hospital nutritionists and other organizations to teach classes focusing on proper nutrition and eating habits. The store includes food court dining for lunch or dinner, featuring both Dave’s prepared foods and collaborations with restaurateurs.
Goods or Services to Low Income Community
Dave’s Supermarket will be a full-service grocery store including pharmacy and bank. The project is located in a food desert.

Healthy Food Financing
Patients of the UH Rainbow Center for Women and Children will receive healthy food “prescriptions” from care providers for redemption at Dave’s. WIC, SNAP and other subsidies will be accepted in order to make the purchase of healthy food choices affordable. In addition, Dave’s will provide cooking classes and seminars to educate neighborhood residents on the benefits of healthy food choices.
Diversity and Inclusion
